Managing offshore renewable energy risks

Energy consultancy Xodus has developed a web-based tool for managing risks for offshore energy – including offshore renewable sources.

Xodus, based in Orkney, UK, says its Xrisk management tool helps customers anticipate and avert set-backs from delayed consenting procedures, to major production breakdowns in both offshore renewable energy, and the oil and gas industry.

It looks at likelihood, severity and cost implications of risks, and prioritises counter-activities.

“Most systems involve emailed sharing of reviews and actions on various documents and spreadsheets, making activity relatively slow and inefficient,” says Liz Foubister, Alternative Energy Director at Xodus.

“This internet-based system combines a single, securely shared risk register, enabling managers located anywhere in the world to build clear plans with actions assigned, managed, tracked and auditable.”

Renewable Energy Focus has not been able to obtain further details from Xodus.
