Enerqos Group constructs solar PV roofs

The Enerqos Group has begun the construction of two solar photovoltaic (PV) roofs (200 kWp and 400 kWp respectively), to cover the shopping centres of Nova Coop, one of the largest distribution chains in Piedmont, Italy.

The solar PV roofs will be among the first Italian solar plants to be built with Solyndra cylindrical panels.

The installation work will be undertaken by the Piedmont-based Photovoltaic Systems, under the supervision of Enerqos’ Industrial Roofs Business Unit. The company, which is part of the Enerqos Group, is specialised in solar PV roofs.

The Solyndra solar PV panels use thin-film, cylindrical modules which capture sunlight across a 360° surface.

Enerqos says that using these solar PV panels in an industrial installation “allows energy to be generated much more effectively and efficiently than would be the case with conventional flat modules, and significantly reduces installation costs at the same time.”

The solar PV roof plants will be fully operational by the summer and will produce over 600 MWh of energy per year.
