Phoenix Solar sets up subsidiary in Oman

Phoenix Solar AG has founded a subsidiary, Phoenix Solar LLC, in Muscat, Oman together with Silver Circle Overseas LLC.

Phoenix Solar holds 70% and Silver Circle Overseas, its local partner in Oman, holds 30% in Phoenix Solar LLC. The subsidiary’s aim is to realise solar power projects in Oman and in the Gulf States.

The Phoenix Solar subsidiary will focus on the planning and turnkey construction of ground- and roof-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) systems – both grid-connected and stand-alone.

The Oman government is already planning the transition away from conventional sources of energy to renewable energy. In 2007, the regulatory authority (AER) commissioned COWI A/S, a company based in Denmark, to carry out a feasibility study in cooperation with SCO on the potential of renewable energy in Oman. Huge potential was ascertained, above all for solar and wind energy, and recommendations for solar PV and wind pilot projects were drawn up and have been consistently implemented since then, Phoenix Solar says.
