E.ON completes wind farm on former coal mine in the USA

E.ON has opened its Stony Creek wind farm in Western Pennsylvania at the site of a former coal mine.

The wind farm consists of 35 General Electric wind turbines with an installed capacity of approximately 53 MW.

E.ON has identified the USA as one of the key markets for the expension of wind power as the United States are considered one of the best markets for wind power because of the natural conditions, and in states like Texas and Pennsylvania, operators can find not only sizable areas but also excellent weather conditions, E.ON says.
