Under the terms of the agreement, Gamesa will transport, install and commission the 65 turbines (136.5 MW). Delivery of the wind turbines is scheduled to begin at the end of 2017, while the facility is scheduled for commissioning during the second half of 2018. In addition, Gamesa will maintain these turbines for the first five years.

According to Gamesa, their G114-2.1 MW turbine is designed to yield more power at lower cost at low and medium wind speed sites, which is why it is particularly suitable for the low-turbulence wind conditions encountered in Brazil. The Brazilian orderbook for this turbine is already approaching the 1-GW mark, says the company.

This new order indicates the company's growing presence in Brazil, which it sees as an important market in which it has established itself as the number two OEM. According to MAKE Consultancy, Gamesa tripled its presence in Brazil in 2015, increasing its market share from 10% in 2014 to 29%.
