Lightsource Renewable Energy Limited expands solar portfolio

Leading UK solar energy generator obtains £103m funding package from The Royal Bank of Scotland.

The £103m term loan is for the acquisition of 14 UK solar assets (13 UK ground mounted solar farms and 1 UK commercial roof top) with RBS.1 These large-scale photovoltaic power stations, which supply power into the UK national grid, can generate enough green electricity to power over 11,286 UK households, according to Lightsource Renewable Energy.  

“We have a strong appetite for development and a significant pipeline,” said Paul McCartie, finance director for Lightsource Renewable Energy, adding that RBS has proven to be an exceptional, supportive partner.

The latest announcement follows up on Lightsource Renewable Energy’s move to create a stand-alone rooftop commercial division.
