Sustainable Energy Association of Australia names new CEO

Dermot Costello brings years of experience across various renewable energy fields.

Mike Smith, Chair of the Sustainable Energy Association of Australia (SEA) Board of Directors, has announced the appointment of Dermot Costello as SEA’s new chief executive officer. 

“The Board is delighted to have secured the services of a highly motivated individual with solid industry and commercial experience, who is passionate about sustainability,” said Laughton-Smith, SEA Chair. “With real-world experience in sustainable energy projects and the policy environments that affect industry, Mr Costello is well equipped to further strengthen the role SEA plays in supporting the interests of our Members.” 

Costello has worked in the sustainable energy industry in both Europe and Australia for approximately 8 years. With a strong technical and commercial background, he has managed projects across most renewable energy fields, including wave, tidal, biomass, and energy from waste, solar and wind. In his previous role as a director at Emerald Energy Consultancy Ltd, Costello led multi-disciplinary teams that delivered renewable energy projects worldwide, giving him an excellent understanding of the value of relationships for efficient outcomes.

“With Dermot's appointment, the board is confident that we are well positioned for the future,” Mr Laughton-Smith added.
