The seminar will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 at the Marriott City Center in downtown Raleigh. The programme will feature several hot-button topics, including: Introduction to smart grid, grid modernization applications, FDIR and VoltVar optimization, SCADA/DMS/OMS, asset health management, distribution automation, substation automation, digital substations, smart grid sensors, broadband wireless communications, and advanced transmission and smart grid applications.

The educational session will be preceded by an optional tour of the ABB Smart Grid Center of Excellence, a new $10 million demonstration facility for the latest smart grid IT/OT convergence of equipment and software. The Center of Excellence is located on the Centennial Campus of NC State University and is part of ABB’s North American Power Products and Power Systems headquarters in Raleigh.

“ABB is excited for Raleigh’s hosting of the inaugural PAC World event," said Steven Kunsman, vice president for substation automation, ABB. "As our nation’s electric power grid faces many challenges from reliability, to security, to resiliency, the ABB pre-event and PAC World conference and exhibition are excellent forums where issues can be debated, trends and visions shared and evolving technologies explored. The pre-event and tour will allow attendees to get a first-hand look at the smart grid, based on evolving new technology addressing key industry challenges."

The PAC World Americas conference, to be held September 23-25 at the Raleigh Convention Center, will be the first PAC World conference ever in North America, following a series of successful events in Europe. The conference will gather industry experts, providing an open forum to educate and debate the changing environment of today’s electric power grid. ABB is a platinum sponsor for this conference and will be exhibiting its latest automation and communications technologies on the show floor, as well as presenting several technical paper sessions.
