ABB's Intersolar Germany preview

Leading power and automation technology group to present one of the industry’s broadest solar inverter portfolios at Intersolar Europe in Munich next month.

ABB plans to feature its complete product portfolio of all solar inverters, from string inverters up to large megawatt-sized central inverters, as well as a broad range of control and protection products and solutions for the photovoltaic market at Intersolar Europe, set to take place June 4-6 in Munich, Germany.

ABB products showcased at Intersolar Europe will range from single-phase string inverters for residential installations up to turnkey station solutions with outputs of up to 2MW for use in multi-megawatt PV power plants. Among the offerings:

The PVS800 and ULTRA central inverter series designed for large-scale PV plants. The station houses two 875 kilowatt (kW) or 1000 kW PVS800 central inverters, an embedded auxiliary power system and monitoring system. Thanks to the flexible, integrated DC and AC connection cabinets PVS800-IS connects quickly and easily to a medium voltage (MV) transformer and PV power plant. According to ABB, these products feature robust designs to ensure easy maintenance, maximum energy harvesting, and extremely high reliability.

The new, compact PRO-33.0 all-in-one three-phase inverter comes with a high maximum DC input voltage of up to1,100 volts, which increases PV system design flexibility. It also allows for longer strings which reduce cabling costs. What's more, a safe and intuitive user interface provides for fast and easy commissioning, ABB claims.

Next comes REACT, ABB's new energy storage system designed specifically for homeowners and small commercial businesses. The system consists of a 4.6kW single-phase ABB inverter and a lithium-ion battery providing 2 kWh usable power. The energy storage system, which will be available during the year 2014, has a broad input voltage range as well as high efficiency rates.
