The three-part project, which became operational in early 2009, consists of 305 wind turbines and has a capacity of 457.5MW. Located in Big Spring, West Texas, the tax revenues it has generated have been used to help fund local projects.

Steve Trenholm, ceo of EC&R North America, said, “EC&R is proud that the Panther Creek wind farm, as one of the largest in the country, will provide enough electricity to power 135,000 homes.”

The company says it will invest €8 billion in renewable energy and environmental projects between 2007 and 2011. Their current installed capacity totals 1,419.7 MW in the USA, including the recent construction of the Stony Creek wind farm in Somerset County, Pennsylvania and the Papalote Creek site in Taft, Texas.
