ABB announces kickoff of two major renewable substation EPC projects

Installations will focus on wind and solar power applications in the US.

The wind farm will receive the EPC supply of a collector substation, utilszing its 38kV MV GIS switchgear technology in the design. This new collector substation will provide the customer with a Generator Step Up transformer complete with high voltage breakers, switches, instrument transformers, capacitor banks and the switchgear featured in a power distribution center. ABB’s 34.5 kV GIS technology represents a new and exciting solution for the US wind market, embedding ABB in the forefront of this technology.

Regarding the second project, a recent utility solar PV power plant, ABB will provide a turnkey 34.5/230 kV solar collector substation featuring a new Generator Step Up transformer and a four collector feeder design with interconnection into adjacent utility switchyard.
