Portugal with FiT for micro energy

Portugal is introducing a special feed-in-tariff (FiT) for small wind turbines and solar photovoltaic (PV) panels with a maximum installed power of 5.75 kW.

EU laws to standardise the production and sale of electricity from small scale, grid connected systems, have seen the Portuguese Government think creatively about how to meet EU renewable targets, according to Proven Energy.

The special feed in tariff for small wind turbines is 0.45 €/kWh. With €20,000 of investment sites with good wind regimes, users can expect the turbines to have paid for themselves in five to seven years.
