Platina completes full cycle on 2005 renewable energy fund

Renewables infrastructure specialist Platina Partners LLP (Platina) has announced the sale of the remaining assets in its 2005, Mistral Windfarm 1 fund (MWF), successfully completing the full investment fund cycle securing a gross IRR of more than 40% for investors.

Focused on construction-ready wind assets, MWF delivered a total of 105MW of operational wind sites in the UK and France. Following the sale of 36MW of French assets in 2008, the remaining five sites – Burton Wold (20MW), Garves (15MW), Pates Hill (14MW), Milton Keynes (14MW) and Winscales Moor (6MW) – have now been acquired by an unnamed investor.

With the recent addition of the Jädraås wind project in Sweden, Platina has over 400MW of onshore wind and solar assets under management and is continuing to make further acquisitions for its current funds.

“This exit concludes Platina’s 2005 fund, which we believe is the first time that any European GP has successfully completed a full cycle on a renewable energy fund, having delivered an outstanding return for our investors,” said Thomas Rottner, Managing Partner of Platina Partners.

“We now look forward to concentrating on securing a strong performance from our remaining funds,” said Rottner.
