Gamesa to supply 23 turbines to India

Gamesa plans to supply 23 GAMESA G97 2.0 MW wind turbines, producing 46 MW of power, to ITC Paperboards and Specialty Papers Division, subsidiary of the Indian group ITC.

The turbines will be installed at Tagguparthi, Andhra Pradesh State. The commissioning is scheduled for the first quarter of 2014 and Gamesa will also provide operation and maintenance services.

In the last month Gamesa has won orders to supply a total of 230 MW: 130 MW to CLP India and 100 MW to Greenko.

“Gamesa strengthens its orderbook in India, boosting its local reputation as a credible turbine manufacturer,” the company said in a press release. “These agreements also highlight the stock placed in the wind sector in this economic giant at a time when as many Indian states are expressing the need to search for alternative energy sources to mitigate the scarcity and high cost of traditional fuels.”

The company has installed over 830 MW and manages capacity of more than 700 MW under O&M agreements in India. In its capacity as wind farm developer, Gamesa’s pipeline in India stands at 4,300 MW. India represented 12% of Gamesa’s sales in 2012.
