Repower wins second supply contract with Renerco

Repower has scored a second supply contract with Germany’s Renerco to supply turbines for Renerco’s 16.4MW Cotton Farm wind farm in Cambridgeshire, UK.

The deal is the second supply contract Repower has signed with Reneco in four months and will see eight Repower MM92 2.05MW machines installed at the site, located on a former airfield approximately 20 miles west of Cambridge.

Due to start in October 2012, construction at Cotton Farm is expected to be completed by February 2013.
The supply deal comes after Repower scored its first contract with Renerco in December to supply five MM92 turbines for the 10.25MW Earls Hall wind farm in Essex.

Rick Eggleston, managing director of Repower UK, said: “The Cotton Farm wind farm adds to our growing portfolio with Renerco, and we look forward to working with them again.”

Renerco has been busy buying up wind farms in the UK, purchasing the 18MW Kildrummy wind farm as well as the Earls Hall and Cotton Farm projects from RWE in 2011.

Elke Hanel, Head of Project Development Wind Energy of Renerco, said: “2012 will be a busy year for Renerco in the UK. We are glad to have had the opportunity to strengthen our relationship with REpower and work with them to implement our challenging construction schedules for Earl’s Hall Farm and Cotton Farm wind farms.”

Owned by India-based conglomerate Suzlon, Repower has delivered turbines to 37 UK onshore wind farms since its inception in 2004, as well as two offshore wind farms - Project Beatrice in the North Sea and the 150MW Ormonde wind farm in the Irish Sea.

The company develops, produces and markets wind turbines with rated outputs of 1.8 MW to 6.15 MW and rotor diameters of 82 metres to 126 metres.
