Centrosolar delivers solar modules to Kenya

Centrosolar has delivered solar photovoltaic (PV) modules for a solar plant for SOS Children’s Village in Mombasa, Kenya.

By Renewable Energy Focus

The solar PV power plant, with 312 modules, is believed to be the third largest system in East Africa. The plant’s inauguration is slated for July 2011.

Centrosolar supplied S-Class Excellent series solar PV modules with an overall output of 60 kWp.

Asantys Systems, along with African Solar Design, handled the installation.

The project dates back to the German Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology’s Renewable Energies Export Initiative, and is said to be the first solar PV project in Kenya to feed its surplus into the public power grid.

The global SOS Children’s Village Organisation plans to convert additional children’s villages to using renewable energy.
