GE promotes Smart Grid pilot in Northern Ireland

GE Energy is promoting the development of a Smart Grid pilot network, which will help more renewable energy sources to be linked to the existing electrical network in Northern Ireland.

SmartGridIreland Chairman and GE Energy Growth Strategy Leader for Europe, Paddy Turnbull says:
“Northern Ireland has many competitive advantages in early adoption of a smart grid pilot project. The region is rich in natural resources, and there is an abundance of ICT skills."

The Smart Grid pilot will demonstrate the advantages of alternative energy supplies.

If adopted, the Smart Grid pilot project could help Northern Ireland speed up progress towards achieving the European Union 20/20/20 targets for emission reductions and renewable energy generation.
