Construction is to start this year of the plant which could have an annual solar plant output of 640 MWp and solar module production line capacity of 150 MWp.

Franz Fehrenbach, Chairman of the Bosch Board of Management, says: “With this investment, Bosch is moving further along the path of internationalisation it has already set for its photovoltaics business.”

The solar PV manufacturing plant will serve the Asian market, which is set to grow on average 30% annually in coming years.

Holger von Hebel, Chairman of Bosch Solar Energy AG, adds: “The plant facility will cover the entire value-added chain, from silicon crystals – known as ingots – and solar cells to the modules which can be installed on roofs or in solar power plants.”

Construction is scheduled to be completed in 2014, but production will start up by the end of 2013.
