Ashland exhibits at China offshore wind show

Ashland Performance Materials will showcase its portfolio of wind energy products at the Offshore Wind China 2011 in Shanghai this month.

Ashland’s products includes unsaturated polyester resins, epoxy vinyl ester resins, gel-coats, bonding paste and adhesives.

At the show, Ashland will feature Derakane™ 601-200 epoxy vinyl ester resin.

According to Ashland, research has shown that Derakane 601-200 resin can improve cycle times by 25% versus epoxy resin systems in the manufacture of composite wind turbine blades by the infusion process.

Using Derakane 601-200 resin also narrows the performance/price gap between low-priced unsaturated polyester resins and high-priced epoxy resins, Ashland reports.

Manufacturers which have used Derakane 601-200 epoxy vinyl ester resin have documented clear benefits in cost and productivity, Ashland claims.

“Ashland has been providing high-performance, environmentally responsible products and services for China’s wind energy market for many years,” notes Baochang Zhang, business director, Ashland Performance Materials, Asia Pacific. “With our strong global technical support, we are working with our customers to help them win in the marketplace.”

The Offshore Wind China 2011 Conference and Exhibition takes place on 15-17 June in Shanghai, China.

Ashland Performance Materials, a business unit of US headquartered Ashland Inc, is a global supplier of unsaturated polyester resins and vinyl ester resins.
