Q-Cells introduces Next Generation solar cells

Q-Cells SE is introducing its Next Generation solar cells as well as its copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) thin-film solar module Q.SMART UF.

By Renewable Energy Focus staff

The solar cells are said to feature improved surface metallisation and a higher efficiency rating. The Next Generation solar cells will form the basis for a new generation of Q-Cells solar modules, which will be launched at the sector trade fair Intersolar in June 2011.

The Q.SMART solar modules feature good performance ratings under difficult climatic conditions, and are ideally suited as a solar application for flat roofs, such as on large industrial buildings.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) has previously confirmed an efficiency rating of 13.37% for the Q.SMART solar module.
