Conergy builds 1.7 MW rooftop solar PV system in Gran Canaria

Conergy has installed a 1.7 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) rooftop system on the 14,000 m2 roof of the coffee roaster Emicela in Aqüimes on Gran Canaria, Canary Islands.

By Renewable Energy Focus staff

The solar PV system consists of 7600 Conergy PowerPlus Modules and over 15 km Conergy SolarFamulus and SunTop III mounting systems.

The annual energy production is estimated to 2.6 GWh.

Conergy has also been commissioned to install a follow-up solar PV system on another rooftop of the coffee roaster with an output of 270 kW.

“There is a clear shift of trends in Spain from free-field installations to the rooftops – whether on industrial buildings such as here on the Canaries or on private houses,” says Luis Jiménez Gutiérrez, Head of Conergy Spain.

“The potential here is immense, despite of the cap on the market. Doing good business is still possible. With the largest rooftop-system of the Canaries, we have yet again proved this rather impressively.”
