JV develops 64 MW solar PV in Ontario

A joint venture consisting of Q-Cells SE, ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc, and ATS’ Photowatt Ontario, will develop 64 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Ontario, Canada.

Q-Cells and ATS hold a 50% interest in the project development company Ontario Solar PV Fields Inc, which has received conditional feed-in tariff (FiT) contracts from the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) for 7 ground mounted solar PV projects totalling 64 MW.

ATS and Q-Cells will provide project development, engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) and related services. The projects will use solar PV modules supplied by Photowatt Ontario with Q-Cells solar cells.

“The Ontario market is projected to be one of the dominant solar markets in North America in 2011,” says Marc van Gerven, Q-Cells North America CEO.

“This partnership is a n excellent fit with our internationalisation strategy by bringing together the global solar expertise of Q-Cells with leading local partners in the industry such as ATS.”
