Tokuyama builds Malaysian polycrystalline silicon factory

Japan-based Tokuyama Corporation will build a polycrystalline silicon factory for use in photovoltaic (PV) solar cells.

The polycrystalline silicon facility is to be based at Samalaju Industrial Park, Malaysia, and the construction of the factory, by Chiyoda Corporation, is due to start in early 2011 with a view to commence operations in Spring 2013.

The construction costs are estimated to be approximately ¥65 billion and following a recent examination of the utilities facilities these are estimated at approximately ¥15 billion.

Tokuyama Corporation is a Japan-based company primarily engaged in the manufacture and sale of chemicals, specialty products, cements construction materials.
