The offshore wind farm represents a total investment of around DKK 10 billion (~€1.34bn). The offshore wind farm could provide around 4% of Denmark’s power consumption.

Siemens Wind Power will provide 111 of its 3.6 MW offshore wind turbines for the project. The wind turbines with a rotor diameter of 120 m will be produced at Siemens’ plant in Brande, Denmark.

Siemens is responsible for manufacturing, installation and commissioning of the offshore wind turbines, and for service and maintenance for the first five years.

Under the tender specifications, the offshore wind farm must start to supply power by the end of 2012 and be fully commissioned by the end of 2013. “Otherwise delays will result in a reduced tariff income and a penalty if all turbines are not connected to the grid by 31 December 2013 at the latest,” DONG Energy says.

Anholt offshore wind farm will be almost doulbe of the 209 MW Horns Rev 2 offshore wind farm, which is currently one of the largest offshore wind farms in the world.
