Siemens delivers 208 MW worth of wind turbines

Siemens will deliver 208 MW worth of wind turbines to two wind projects – one in Germany and one in Canada.

Siemens will supply 30 of its 3.6 MW wind turbines for the 108 MW Rittgat offshore wind farm in the North Sea. The offshore wind farm 15 km northeast of the north Frisian island of Borkum, is scheduled to be commissioned lat 2012.

The wind turbines were commissioned by EWE AG and ENOVA GmbH & Co KG. Siemens will install, connect and commission the wind turbines and perform maintenance for an initial period of five years.

“Offshore wind power is now finally picking up impetus in Germany, too,” says René Umlauft, CEO of the Renewable Energy Division of Siemens Energy. “Rittgat will be one of the first commercial wind farms in German waters.”

Wind in Canada

Siemens will also deliver 43 of its 2.3 MW SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines for the Greenwich wind project near Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.

The RES Canada Inc wind farm will have a total output of 100 MW and installation will begin in June 2011.
