Intelligent Energy appoints Jadoo’s Devanna to head US fuel cell operations

Fuel cell and fuel processor developer Intelligent Energy has appointed Leonard Devanna as its new Vice President of US Operations. This appointment follows the promotion of Murali Arikara, who previously held this position, to lead the focus on selected fast growing markets as Executive VP for Emerging Markets at Intelligent Energy.

In his new role, Devanna will lead the US operations at Intelligent Energy, and be responsible for continuing to meet increasing demand for fuel cell based systems from Intelligent Energy for the portable, backup and combined heat and power (CHP) markets.

Devanna joins Intelligent Energy with more than 25 years’ experience in high-profile leadership positions, most recently as President and CEO of fuel cell provider Jadoo Power in California.

Intelligent Energy is focused on the provision of clean and low-carbon fuel cell power, and offers a range of PEM fuel cell and hydrogen generation technologies. Intelligent Energy is partnering with leading companies globally, in the transportation, oil & gas, aerospace, defense, distributed generation, and portable power markets.

Current partners and customers include Scottish & Southern Energy in the UK, with whom Intelligent Energy has formed a joint venture to commercialize fuel cell CHP systems, and The Suzuki Motor Corporation in Japan, with which it is developing fuel cell motorbikes.

Intelligent Energy successes in recent years include supplying the PEM fuel cell system to Boeing which powered the world’s first manned fuel cell aircraft. Intelligent Energy also recently supplied Airbus with a multi-functional fuel cell auxiliary power unit (APU), aimed at on-board power and other loads in future commercial airliners.
