China's first 10 MW ground mount solar system connected to the grid

Crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturer, Suntech Power Holdings Co., has completed and grid connected what it says is the first 10 MW utility-scale solar PV power project in China.

The Suntech solar PV system is located in Shizuishan, Ningxia Autonomous Region, China, and the 10 MW ground mount solar system is the first phase of a 50 MW solar plant that is targeted to be completed by 2011 in conjunction with Suntech's strategic partner, China Energy Conservation Investment Corporation (CECIC).

In addition to supplying solar PV modules for the system, Suntech designed, installed and managed the development of the solar system and holds a minority share of the project.

The 10 MW solar PV system has more than 37,000 Suntech solar panels.
