Indian school to achieve energy independence

The Meeco Group has designed a solar management system which has been installed in a school in India.

A 13.4 kWp PV installation combined with the sun2safe solar energy management system produced by The Meeco Group has recently been installed at the Shiv Public School in Gurgaon, India. Previously the school had been running on diesel generated power and experienced an erratic and unreliable power supply, according to the Meeco Group. However, the new installation means the school is now able to save up to 10,000 litres of Diesel per year and avoid 500,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

The sun2safe system is an all-in-one converter/inverter central energy management system which, according to the Meeco Group, will enable a better insight into power production and use, leading to an improved management of produced energy and savings.

“We are faced with an unreliable grid and have been dependent on generating power from dieselgenerators to run the school for the past several years”, explains K. N. Gupta, Director of the Shiv Public School. “The Meeco Group supported us in achieving the goal of independence from diesel and replaced this air and noise polluting energy source with clean and green power from the sun.” The school is now self-sufficient, as Gupta explained. “The installation is taking care of the complete needs of our school including lighting, fans, water coolers and computers.”

Tarun Munjal, Managing Director of Meeco India (Pvt) Ltd. stated “We are committed to the re-engineering of our world towards zero carbon emission and promote the use of solar energy as a means to that end.” H continued, “We have now started this process of transformation in various schools across the National Capital Region (NCR) in India and are experiencing a very positive engagement from our customers by contributing our mission. The results we are able to achieve with our sun2safe technology are clearly market-defining since they save costs and save the environment.”
