AET, Sky Renewable Energy ‘team up’ on sports facility solar installation

Novel solar racking system employed at Seattle Mariners’ training facility in Arizona.

Applied Energy Technologies (AET) recently announced the completion of a solar installation project at the Seattle Mariners spring training facility in Peoria, Arizona. AET provided its Rayport-B stainless steel roof ballast racking system 1 for the 86kW rooftop portion of a 345 kW project, which was developed in partnership with Sky Renewable Energy.

“We are excited to be playing a part in the Seattle Mariners’ environmental program in Arizona,” said Aaron Faust, vice president of business development at Applied Energy Technologies. “This array will generate enough energy to power eight Arizona homes for a year.”

The project was developed and financed by Healthy Planet Partners, a clean energy solutions fund that finances, implements and maintains distributed energy and energy efficiency projects that optimize performance in commercial buildings. The facility has recently received Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification for its best-in-class building strategies and practices.
