The scope of the agreement calls for the installation and commissioning of 25 G97-2.0 MW, with delivery scheduled for July. The wind farm at Chengdingsha is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
The G97-2.0 MW class III wind turbine, with its low power density, is designed specifically for low-wind sites such as those found in the Shangdong Province. According to Gamesa, the wind turbines significantly cut the cost of energy (CoE) of Gamesa's low- and medium-wind speed products. This turbine is part of Gamesa's 2.0-2.5 MW platform, with more than 16,000 MW installed worldwide and an average fleet availability exceeding 98 per cent.
This latest contract between Gamesa and China reinforces the commercial relationship between the wind turbine manufacturer and CGN Wind Energy (formerly Guangdong Nuclear), dating back to the year of 2009. Since then, Gamesa has signed contracts accounting for 106 MW with this utility in Shandong, Liaoning and Heilongjiang provinces.
