RES is celebrating the completion of the 14MW Grange Wind Farm, located between Sutton Bridge and Tydd St Mary in Lincolnshire. The wind farm is capable of generating enough clean, green renewable electricity to meet the average needs of more than 10,000 homes, says the company which now has a global renewables construction portfolio of more than 8GW of projects.
Construction work started in January 2012 and the wind turbine components were delivered to site 12 months later. All seven turbines were erected, and the grid connections energised, by the end of March 2013, when commissioning and testing of the turbines began.
RES owns and operates the Grange Wind Farm and says it looks forward to continuing the links forged with the local community during the development and construction phases.“Completed on schedule a mere 14 months from start of work on site, The Grange Wind Farm highlights the clear benefits of onshore wind in being a rapidly deployable form of renewable energy generation,” said Gordon MacDougall, RES UK & Ireland Chief Operating Officer.
