Trina Solar supplies 33 MW to S.A.G. Solarstrom for UK PV project

Trina Solar has supplied 33 MW of solar panels to S.A.G. Solarstrom, which have been installed at a solar photovoltaic park on the site of the former RAF Wymeswold airfield in the UK.

Trina Solar – a leading provider of photovoltaic modules, solutions, and services – has supplied S.A.G. Solarstrom with more than 137 000 solar panels, for a total generation capacity of 33 MW. The excellent PV module performance in field tests was a key factor in the selection.

The solar PV array at the former RAF Wymeswold airfield in Leicestershire was connected to the national grid in March. The project is thus eligible for full support under the UK’s Renewables Obligation Certificates scheme.

‘We carry out continuous systematic evaluations of the performance and quality of modules from all the top manufacturers,’ says Dr Karl Kuhlmann, CEO of S.A.G. Solarstrom. ‘The quality of Trina Solar’s modules was thoroughly convincing.’

Hill continues: ‘In our experience, the performance of Trina Solar modules in field tests in particular is excellent – their actual performance is consistently substantially higher than anticipated.’

S.A.G. Solarstrom is an independent supplier of photovoltaic arrays at all scales, configured to generate solar electricity for individual customers in Germany and elsewhere. The company also provides services relating to the entire lifecycle of PV arrays, including forecasting and energy services, return-on-investment reporting, remote and on-site maintenance and repair services, and insurance and financing.
