Ecotricity cancels solar farm on UK feed-in tariff cuts

Ecotricity has cancelled plans for a solar photovoltaic (PV) farm in Somerset, UK, due to the cuts in the UK feed-in tariff.

By Kari Williamson

With the support for larger solar PV installations in the UK being significantly cut from April, Ecotricity's Stuart Brennan tells the BBC the Government has “suddenly dragged the rug out from underneath the industry just when it was getting going.

“That solar farm at Shooters Bottom would have generated enough electricity for 1500 homes... 25,000 jobs have been created in the last 18 months in the solar industry and now they're under threat,” he adds.
