The AREVA Group invested €15 million in the full-scale 5 MW wind turbine test bench for quality assurance, in addition to public subsidies from the Federal state Bremen and the German Federation.

One full load test run of a complete wind turbine nacelle, including electrical power train, takes up to 48 hours without set-up time.

AREVA says the full load wind turbine test facility could reduced failure rates and thereby minimise economical risk, and ensure high availability just after commissioning.
