MPI Discovery's 6 jack-up legs provide a stable platform for the installation of offshore wind turbines and foundations. It can operate in waters up to 40 m deep.
The offshore wind installation vessel’s main crane can lift 1000 tonnes and its auxiliary crane can lift 50 tonnes.
E.ON Climate & Renewables, Managing Director Europe, Michael Lewis, says: “Reducing the costs of offshore wind power is a key priority for E.ON, and chartering a high quality purpose built vessel on a long term basis is a key part of our strategy.”
E.ON is building the 1 GW London Array offshore wind farm using another MPI vessel, the Adventure.
