Trucks and buses on Neste Oil’s biodiesel

The Challenge Bibendum in Berlin saw Iveco trucks and buses running on Neste Oil’s NExBTL biodiesel.

Challenge Bibendum is an annually event gathering mobility experts from around the world to explore, promote, and test solutions and technologies for tomorrow's mobility. The focus of the event is especially on the sustainability and environmental aspects of future road mobility.

All Iveco's diesel-electric hybrid and diesel powered vehicles at the event were fuelled by Neste Oil's NExBTL biodiesel.

"Traffic volumes are expected to triple by 2050 and the related emissions are increasing. It is of utmost importance that we do what we can to minimise the negative effects of traffic: All of the various solutions to combat this environmental challenge are needed. One of the solutions, already available commercially, is Neste Oil's NExBTL renewable diesel which has been proven to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% or even more over the product's entire life cycle when compared to fossil diesel. Its use also significantly cuts tailpipe emissions, which helps improve urban air quality," says Matti Lehmus, Executive Vice President, Oil Products and Renewables, Neste Oil.

The biodiesel can be used in current diesel engines without any engine modifications.

The NExBTL biodiesel is a hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) produced by hydrotreating vegetable oils or waste animal fats.
