Using the former mine which provides an area of 20 hectares, Scatec Solar is set to construct a solar PV plant that will generate 6.16 MWp of electricity using more than 26, 000 solar PV modules.
Of the new solar PV plant Raymond Carlsen, CEO of Scatec Solar, says: "This project will be a premium showcase of the flexibility and adaptability of solar PV solutions. The ability to utilise a former quarry normally considered useless for the production of renewable energy increases the value and attractiveness of solar energy."
The solar PV project is due to be grid connected by Autumn 2011and will produce in excess of 7.5 GWh annually.
