The contract is an amendment to a deal in 2008 where Alstom Grid was awarded the contract to create the complete electrical system for the offshore wind farm substation.

The amendment includes the manufacturing and delivery of the steel construction including the support structure, manufacture and delivery of the component containers, the safety technology and the topside assembly.

Delivery is scheduled for March 2012.

Borkum West II offshore wind farm consists of 80 wind turbines with a rating of 5 MWp each. It is situated 45 km north of the island of Borkum in the exclusive economic zone of the Federal Republic of Germany.
