Gamesa India strengthens local wind turbine supply chain

Gamesa India has met with 52 of its wind turbine component suppliers “to make progress on standards for quality, response capability and the development of efficiency improvement solutions.”

By Renewable Energy Focus staff

Gamesa India says the purpose of the meeting was “to analyse the company’s current expansion in the Indian wind market and to convey to suppliers the need for continued joint effort on an ambitious plan to establish commitments on costs, quality and deadlines and to allow the company to strengthen its local supply chain in India.”

So far, Gamesa has installed 148 of its G58 850 kW wind turbines – all locally produced.

Gamesa India aims to increase its manufacturing capacity fourfold by 2013 and boost average annual accumulated sales by 166% between 2011 and 2013.
