REC Solar's PV module production plant in Glava and most of the production equipment has been sold to Perfekta Solar while Innotech Solar has bought around one third of the factory’s shares. The plant, which has an annual capacity of 150 MW, was closed last year after it struggled financially.

Innotech, a solar technology company and PV module supplier, says it decided to buy the shares because the Glava site is located comparatively close to its own cell processing plant in Narvik, Norway. The proximity of the two sites will make deliveries quick and avoid additional burdens on the environment.

Thor-Christian Tuv, CEO of Innotech Solar, says: “The Glava site boasts one of Europe’s most modern solar factories. This step towards the vertical integration of the value-added chain is being taken at an ideal moment; our European cell production capacity will increase from 35 MW to 135 MW this year.”

Norwegian Innotech specialises in returning rejected cells to their capacity through a multi-step testing and optimisation process. Its existing product portfolio will be completed by a new module series to be produced in Glava.
