Deliveries start for Ormonde Offshore Wind Farm

The first deliveries of wind turbines and towers have started for Vattenfall’s 150 MW Osmonde Offshore Wind Farm in the Irish Sea.

By Renewable Energy Focus staff

The first of 9 consignments of wind turbines and towers arrived at Harland and Wolff in Belfast on 16 January and deliveries will continue until the end of March.

Thirty REpower 5M wind turbines will be pre-assembled at the yard.

Robert Cooper, CEO Harland and Wolff yard, says: “This is our third offshore wind farm logistics project in four years and the largest turbines we have handled to date. Vattenfall are a demanding customer who requires the best; our vast facilities and experienced personnel are again demonstrating their unique flexibility and capability.

“When this project is considered alongside the current manufacture of two large offshore platforms in our fabrication halls, renewable energy is securing hundreds of local jobs within H&W and within the local supply chain.”
