The equipment for the hydropower plant was supplied by Alstom.

In October 2007, Alstom signed the 2.4 GW Son La Hydro Power Plant contract for the design, engineering, manufacturing and delivery of 6 of its 400 MW Francis hydropower turbines and generators, BOP (Balance of Plant) as well as training and supervision of installation, testing and commissioning.
