Åmliden wind farm in Sweden to start construction

NV Nordisk Vindkraft AB and HgCapital have signed agreements for the sale, construction and financing of the 41 MW Åmliden wind farm in Malå Municipality, Västerbotten, Sweden.

The wind farm project was developed by Nordisk Vindkraft, a subsidiary of the RES Group, who will also build the project under an EPC contract using 23 V100 1.8 MW onshore wind turbines from Vestas.

Funds managed by HgCapital provide the equity for the project and have arranged 17-year project financing underwritten by Commerzbank.

Åmliden wind farm is 14 km from the 44 MW Ytterberg wind farm project, which was also developed by Nordisk Vindkraft and sold to HgCapital in 2010.

Ytterberg is currently under construction by Nordisk Vindkraft and is using Vestas V90 2 MW. The proximity of the two sites is expected to reduce operating costs.

Construction of the Åmliden project will start in early 2011 and the wind farm is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2012.

Arne Lorenzen, CEO of Nordisk Vindkraft said: "We are delighted to announce the sale of our Åmliden project to HgCapital. The Åmliden project is the sixth wind farm project that Nordisk Vindkraft has successfully developed in Sweden and we look forward to delivering more projects to the Swedish market in the future. We would like to thank HgCapital for awarding us the EPC contract and look forward to working with them and with Vestas on the successful completion of the project.“
