The decision to expand reflects the wishes of Moventas’ Western customers operating in China, as well as Chinese customers for the company to start local manufacturing of wind turbine and industrial gears in China.

The Suzhou-based unit will start manufacturing industrial gears for the wind turbine industry in summer 2011.

The expansion will have no effect on employment at Karkkila factory in Finland that currently serves Moventas' Western clients, the company says.
