juwi-Group sets up renewable energy subsidiary in India

Renewable energy project developer, the juwi-Group, has established a subsidiary in India.

The subsidiary, juwi India Renewable Energies Pvt Ltd, is headquartered in Bangalore.

From 2011 on the company will develop solar power facilities in India. Solar photovoltaic (PV) projects with a total capacity in excess of 100 MW are scheduled to be installed in the coming years.

The solar PV power projects will be developed across India and the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries.

In the beginning, the solar PV projects will be turnkey projects in which the company acts as the general contractor for the design, engineering and construction of free-field and roof-top solar installations.

In addition, juwi is going to develop solar PV projects in India, covering the entire process – from acquisition of suitable land to the completion of the power plant.

"India currently provides excellent conditions for the solar industry and the country has the most attractive market in all of Asia. As one of the leading developers, juwi’s opportunities there are outstanding. 100% renewable energies are possible – now and not in the far future," says Rajesh Bhat, President of the juwi subsidiary in India.

“If the conditions remain that attractive or even continue to improve, we will certainly create a lot of new jobs in our Indian offices. Our activities in India will remarkably contribute to a change towards global sustainability to the benefit of present and future generations,” add Amiram Roth-Deblon and Dirk Lamottke, Directors of juwi India Renewable Energies.

Within the scope of the Global Climate Change Initiative, the Indian Government is planning to increase the total installed capacity of solar energy to 20 GW in the year 2022.
