Gamesa’s wind turbine division has signed contracts with two of its largest customers in China plus a new customer, Henan Weite Wind Power.

Gamesa will supply 48 units of its G90-2.0 MW wind turbine in 2010, representing combined capacity of 96 MW to Guangdong Nuclear Wind Power.

Datang Renewable Power will buy 25 units of Gamesa’s G90-2.0 MW wind turbines, with combined capacity of 50 MW, for its wind farms in Liaoning Province.

Furthermore, Gamesa will supply Henan Weite Wind Power with a total of 124 units of its G58-850 kW wind turbine, representing a total capacity of 105 MW.

The news follows Gamesa’s announcement that it has signed strategic agreements with Guangdong and Datang in China to develop wind farms and supply 1315.3 MW of wind turbine capacity between 2010 and 2013.

China’s wind power market

In 2009 China became the fastest-growing wind energy market in the world, almost doubling its wind energy generation capacity with the creation of 13.7 GW of wind assets, bringing the country’s installed capacity to 26 GW, making it the largest wind power market in the world. 

Gamesa forecasts further growth and expects to double its sales in China in the period 2009-2013, as well as hoping to double its effective wind production capactity in China to more than 1 GW in 2013.
