REpower wind turbines to Sweden

REpower Systems AG will deliver three of its 2.05 MW MM92 wind turbines to Klågerup Kraft AB for a wind farm project near the city of Malmö, Skåne, Sweden; and sets up Swedish subsidiary.

The wind power project is developed and partly owned by HS Kraft AB, a Swedish wind power developer in Sweden.

The wind farm Klågerup is slated for installation and operation by late autumn 2011.

Swedish subsidiary

The wind turbine manufacturer has also established a subsidiary: REpower Systems Scandinavia AB in Stockholm. REpower will also open an office in Västerås, roughly 100 km west of Stockholm.

Per Hornung Pedersen, Chief Market Officer of REpower Systems AG, says: “Sweden is an important market of the future for wind energy. With the Swedish Government's concrete and ambitious goals for the expansion of renewable energy sources, the simplified planning and approval process, and the joint certificate market with Norway beginning in 2012 there is a supportive regulatory framework for wind turbine projects.”

According to estimates by the Swedish wind turbine association, Svensk Vindenergi, there will be roughly 6 GW of onshore wind turbine capacity installed in Sweden by 2020 – currently about a quarter has been implemented.
