The 80 solar thin-film modules are 1.4 m2 and have a nominal power of 7.1 kWp each. The modules are mounted on gehrtec mounting systems from Gehrlicher Solar AG.
In addition to generating electricity, the solar thin-film modules are said to improve thermal insulation, provide weathering protection and improve the sound proofing by around 25 decibels.
It is the first time Masdar PV’s solar thin-film modules have been used for building integrated PV (BIPV) purposes.
CEO of Masdar PV, Frank Wouters, says: “We are happy about this pilot project with Gehrlicher for joint testing of a façade-integrated PV solution. This type of installation enables us to tap into an attractive, new market segment that offers major potential.”
Masdar PV and Gehrlicher are also looking into the possibility of using the rail system for the large 5.7 m2 full-size solar modules from Masdar PV and to further expand their cooperation.
