The GreenSky project aims to produce jet biofuel from waste biomass. The jet biofuel will be used to power part of British Airways’ fleet from 2014.
The self-contained biofuel plant will convert 500,000 tonnes of waste biomass feedstock into 16 million gallons of jet biofuel, more than twice the amount required to make all of BA’s flights at nearby London City Airport carbon-neutral.
The biofuel process will also produce 8 million gallons of BioNaphta and 40 MW of power of renewable electricity, 20 MW of which will be exported to the National Grid.
