SFC secures Bundeswehr order for portable fuel cell soldier power solution

In Germany, SFC Smart Fuel Cell has received another order from the Bundeswehr armed forces, to provide autonomous fuel cell power generation systems for Bundeswehr operations abroad.

The energy solution for the German Bundeswehr is based on the portable Jenny fuel cell, which SFC Smart Fuel Cell has been selling as a mobile off-grid soldier power source for more than a year. Units have been deployed in a variety of international defense missions worldwide.

In combination with the SFC Power Manager, an intelligent converter which assures optimal operation of available power sources, the Jenny fuel cell system offers a reliable energy network for power supply in the field. The order is worth more than €220,000 (US$270,000), with the systems being delivered through the latter part of 2010.

The portable Jenny direct methanol fuel cell by SFC Smart Fuel Cell is a small, lightweight (less than 2 kg) power generator for soldiers and applications in the field. It can either be worn directly on the body in a belt, or operate unmanned devices in the field.
